The Man
Von Daniel entered this great big world on a hot summer day in Brooklyn, New York and the world got a little brighter, more colorful and a whole lot funnier.
He developed his comedy funny bone from his grandfather and this proved to carry him through his life. Wanting to also develop his graphic design skills and follow his desire to become a Visual Designer he moved to Dallas Texas in 1993 to attend The Art Institute of Dallas.
With degree in hand, Von climbed the corporate ladder in his professional career as a Production Artist, Graphic Designer, Art Director and Creative Director in the corporate world for companies such as JC Penney, Michaels and Amazon.
In 2000 he jumped onstage and grabbed the microphone to try his hand at performing stand-up comedy. While enjoying the limelight that comes with performing solo he then discovered the art of improvisational comedy. The joy that comes with performing with an ensemble, and building something from nothing with a team of other creatives on stage had him hooked.
Von joined ComedySportz Dallas in 2002. ComedySportz is a national improv company with 30 locations worldwide and billed as a family friendly improvisational comedy show. In 2008 ComedySportz Dallas closed. Von and his fellow performers found themselves locked out of their comedy home. In 2008, due to this closing Von formed his own comedy company Locked Out Productions, LLC and a new troupe called, Locked Out Comedy. After much success as LOC and Locked Out Productions, LLC Von was able to reopen the Dallas location of ComedySportz in 2014 and he once served as the President of CSz Worldwide.
Wanting to make comedy a larger part of his life, he envisioned a place where people can come together through laughter, perform, enjoy improv, stand up and take classes in the comedic arts. In April of 2017 Von left corporate America and opened his own comedy club called, The Comedy Arena located in McKinney, Texas. You can find him there teaching, laughing and playing pretend with his friends.
